Powerex power adapters with an interchangeable plug use a removable plug plate, so the same adapter can be fitted with the plug for your country. The plate twists on and locks in place, and a small release latch next to the socket lets you take it off again.

Watch how it works

Before you start: unplug the adapter from the wall outlet and disconnect it from your charger.

To install the plug plate

1. Line up the tabs and drop it in. Hold the plug plate with the prongs at an angle so the two tabs on the edge of the plate line up with the notches in the round socket. Set the plate in so it sits flat in the socket.

2. Turn it clockwise until it clicks. Turn the plate toward LOCK until you hear a click. When it is locked, the prongs are straight (no longer at an angle) and the plate sits flush without moving or wobbling.

To remove the plug plate

1. Press the latch and turn it counterclockwise. Press and hold the small release latch beside the socket (shown in yellow), then turn the plate toward OPEN.

2. Lift it off. Once the prongs are back at an angle, lift the plate straight out of the socket.

Q:  The plate won't turn. What should I do?
A:  The plate is probably not fully seated. Lift it out, line the tabs up with the notches again, make sure it sits flat, and then turn it. Never force it.

Q:  Is it normal for the plate to come off the adapter?
A:  Yes. The plate is designed to be removable so you can swap plugs. It is not broken.

Q:  How do I know it's locked?
A:  You'll hear a click, the prongs will be straight, and the plate will sit flush without wobbling. Always check this before plugging the adapter into the wall.
